• How does the trial work?

  In trial mode, PDFUnzip processes the first 20 pages of any PDF file — enough to verify the extraction quality. You can upload up to 3 files per day. To extract all pages and download the full archive, a Google sign-in is required.

• Why is Google sign-in required?

  Uploading a PDF and previewing extracted images works without signing in. When you're ready to download, a quick Google sign-in saves your daily limit, purchases, and access from any device.

• Where are my files processed?

  Right in your browser. PDFUnzip runs entirely on your device — files never leave it. Your documents stay local from the moment you upload them to the moment you download results. Verify it yourself: open Developer Tools (press F12) → Network tab → upload a PDF → zero file uploads to any server.

• Will images lose quality?

  PDFUnzip extracts graphics as close to the original as possible, preserving resolution and format. If the file contained a PNG with transparency or a high-resolution JPEG, that's exactly what you'll get, without visible quality loss.

• Can I extract images from password-protected PDFs?

  Not yet. Password-protected PDFs need to be unlocked first — remove the password in any PDF editor, then upload the file to PDFUnzip. The app shows a clear warning if it detects encryption.

• What image formats are supported?

  PDFUnzip extracts raster images in PNG and JPEG formats. The format is determined automatically: images with transparency (alpha channel) are saved as PNG, all others as JPEG. Vector graphics, text, and fonts are not extracted in the current version.

• Why are some images marked as “Excluded”?

  PDFUnzip extracts every piece of raster graphics without exception — this guarantees no important image is ever lost. Technical elements (transparency masks, backdrops, decorative strips) are automatically set aside into the Excluded section: they don't go into the ZIP, but they are never deleted. Any card can be restored to the archive with one click.

• What are the limits?

  Guests and signed-in users (free tier): 3 PDF files per day, first 20 pages of each file processed. Single Unlock ($1.99): full extraction of one file of any size. PRO subscription ($9.99/mo): unlimited files, pages, and downloads.

• Does it work on mobile?

  Yes — PDFUnzip runs in any modern mobile browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox). For very large files (100+ pages or 50+ MB), a desktop browser will feel smoother due to mobile memory limits.

• Does it work with scanned documents?

  PDFUnzip extracts embedded raster images from the PDF structure. If a document consists of scans (each page is essentially one large image), the tool will extract those page-level images. If you need individual elements (photos, illustrations) rather than full-page scans, PDFUnzip may not be the right fit for that file.
